The End of the Age of Ignorance

The Age of Ignorance brought anarchy to the land. All men behaved as they thought best and in whichever way benefitted them the most. There lived a family in the Northern Hills who would, unbeknownst to them, change the world as all people knew it. They, like their families before them, were fishermen, making their living off of the sea. Unlike the rest of their village, the family was good and kind to everyone. They were known for sharing their catch with others who weren't as fortunate that day, mending nets which were not their own or seeing to the lonely widow living in the shabby shack at the edge of the Inland Woods.

On her daily tour of discovery, the youngest child stumbled upon a secret cove, hidden from sight of the ancient, yet well traveled path. Venturing deeper into the unknown area, she maneuvered large boulders, dense foliage and an occasional snake or two. Wiggling free from the last of the obstacles, she emerged into a wondrous area unlike anything her young little eyes had seen before. The sparkle of the sun danced along the water to a joyful rhythm of waves, wind and bird song, all coming together in a well harmonized orchestra. Though beautiful, it was the fish that caught her eye. Her naive childish imagination assured her that a rainbow had poured itself out into this very cove. These fish were completely unlike the dull grey ones she was used to; the only ones anyone in her village had ever known.

Returning to the ones she loved, the child recounted her discovery and implored her dear ones to follow as she lead them back to see for themselves. Regaling in this discovery, the parents carefully prepared a vessel in which to carry back this treasure with the intention of sharing with the others. Though the entire village came to see the commotion of the new discovery, only three other families received some of the exotic fish. Day after day, the family would bring the brightly colored fish to share with anyone who wanted some. Though most scoffed, laughed at or ignored their generosity, new families received every day. Diligently stewarding what had been given to them, those who received the new fish multiplied their harvest until there was an abundance of fish. Following the example of the generous family, the villagers carefully prepared their own vessels to transport the overflow to the villages on the other side of the hill.

Though it started with one small family, the brilliantly colored fish were multiplied and spread throughout every corner of the land until they were more common than the grey ones. Along with the fish, generosity, thoughtfulness and helping one another spread like wildfire, purging the Age of Ignorance from the land, preparing the way for the Time of Restoration.

Reflect and model.
